Open Zoom meeting links in a specific browser on Mac
Why give it its own rule
Zoom join links (zoom.us/j/... or regional hosts like us02web.zoom.us) open a web page first, and that page then offers to launch the meeting. If the page opens in a browser signed in to a personal Zoom account, the web portal, cloud recordings and 'join from your browser' all use the wrong identity.
How to set it up
- Install ChooseBrowser and pick it in System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Default web browser.
- In ChooseBrowser, add a rule for the hosts below and choose the browser and profile (profiles of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Chromium need a one-time local setup in the app).
- From then on, these links open straight in that browser from any app; links without a rule show the picker.
Hosts to add
zoom.usus02web.zoom.us
Split by path
zoom.us/j
Add rules for zoom.us and us02web.zoom.us that open the browser profile signed in to your work Zoom account. If you want join links in a lighter browser than the portal, add a path rule for zoom.us/j and point it there. ChooseBrowser only decides which browser opens the link; what happens after the page hands off to the Zoom app is up to Zoom.
Check that it works
Open a zoom.us/j/ meeting link and confirm it opens in the browser you set for join links, then open zoom.us/profile and confirm it opens in the work profile signed in to your company account.
