Open Linear links in a specific browser profile on Mac
Why give it its own rule
One person can belong to several Linear workspaces, and consultants or people with a side project often use a different email for each. An issue link opened in the profile signed in with the wrong email shows an empty workspace or a join prompt, even though the issue exists.
How to set it up
- Install ChooseBrowser and pick it in System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Default web browser.
- In ChooseBrowser, add a rule for the hosts below and choose the browser and profile (profiles of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Chromium need a one-time local setup in the app).
- From then on, these links open straight in that browser from any app; links without a rule show the picker.
Hosts to add
linear.app
Split by path
linear.app/your-team
Add a rule for linear.app that opens the profile you use most. For a second workspace, add a path rule for linear.app/your-team (every Linear URL starts with the workspace slug) and point it at the profile signed in with that workspace's email. Add one path rule per extra workspace.
Check that it works
Open an issue from linear.app/your-team and confirm it opens in the matching profile with that workspace in the sidebar; then open a link from your other workspace and confirm it goes to the other profile.
