Open AWS Console links in a specific browser profile on Mac
Why give it its own rule
The AWS Console holds one signed-in session per browser, so switching between a company account via IAM Identity Center and a personal or sandbox account signs you out of the other. Teams usually enter through an access portal like your-org.awsapps.com, and console links opened anywhere else land on the root sign-in page.
How to set it up
- Install ChooseBrowser and pick it in System Settings → Desktop & Dock → Default web browser.
- In ChooseBrowser, add a rule for the hosts below and choose the browser and profile (profiles of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi and Chromium need a one-time local setup in the app).
- From then on, these links open straight in that browser from any app; links without a rule show the picker.
Hosts to add
console.aws.amazon.comyour-org.awsapps.com
Add rules for your-org.awsapps.com and console.aws.amazon.com that open a profile dedicated to your work AWS access. Every account shares the console.aws.amazon.com host, so keep a personal AWS account in a different browser and open it from there directly.
Check that it works
Open your access portal link and confirm the work profile opens with your accounts and roles listed; then open a console link such as console.aws.amazon.com/s3 and confirm the top bar shows the role you assumed in that profile, while unrelated links still go to your usual browser.
